Pakistan cricket team now finds itself in the midst of a messy match fixing mess. In an embarrassing development, the British police confiscated the mobile phones of Pakistani cricket captain Salman Butt, Mohammad Aamer and Mohammad Asif. Seven of the team members are under the scanner after a sting operation by a British tabloid ‘News of the world’ showed a bookie giving details of their involvement in fixing the test match played at Lord’s last week.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Yousef Raza Gilani was less circumspect, stating that the allegations made his country “bow its head in shame.”
Pakistan investigators will be in London to examine allegations of the country’s cricketers being involved in match-fixing in the fourth Test against England on Sunday. The three members of Pakistan’s highest law enforcement agency, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), will join Scotland Yard
