Dealers buy TCP suger for Ramzaan
Dealers have started lifting sugar from stocks of Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP), to sell it at relatively less price during Ramzaan. The Punjab government has also contacted sugar mill owners to ensure the availability of sugar in special bazaars, in case of shortage of commodity. Official sources told The News that as many as 900 tons of sugar had already been lifted by dealers of Rawalpindi and Rahim Yar Khan from Karachi.
Dealers hailing from Lahore, Jhang and Bahawalpur have paid amount to TCP and will start lifting 2,500 tons of sugar in next couple of days. This sugar is expected to start reaching Punjab in next four to five days.
Dealers have been authorized to buy sugar from TCP by administration of their respective districts at the rate of Rs 56 per kg. The sugar will be sold at special Ramzaan bazaars at Rs 60-61 per kg during Ramzaan.
Initially, Punjab made arrangements for selling 50,000 tons of sugar at relatively cheap price of Rs 60-61 per kg at the special bazaars. Later, in mid- Ramzaan, 50,000 tons of sugar will be bought from TCS for the same purpose.
